The RCDE is a special version of SRI International's 3DIUS[tm] system that has been created to serve as the development environment for the RADIUS (Research and Development for Image Understanding Systems) project which is sponsored jointly by ARPA (Advanced Research Projects Agency) and ORD (Office of Research and Development).
The RCDE runs on Sun Microsystem SparcStations, under SunOS 4.1.3, the X11R5 Window system or Sun's OpenWindows 3.0 and is written primarily in Common Lisp and the Common Lisp Object System (CLOS) using Lucid Common Lisp. which is now marketed and supported by Harlequin Inc.
In addition to the capabilities of SRI's 3DIUS, the RCDE also incorporates a Lisp-C/C++ interface (LCI) developed by Martin Marietta. The LCI supplies the facilities for rapid development and testing of C and C++ code, while providing access to the full functionality of the RCDE.
The RCDE is available to all industry and university organizations who perform image understanding research under contract to the U.S. Government. Licensing, distribution, and user support for the RCDE is handled by Lockheed Martin Corporation's Management and Data Systems Division in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.
Send e-mail to rcde@mdso.vf.ge.com for licensing and availability information.
There is also a document describing user support resources available on the World Wide Web for current RCDE licensees.
