Chromaplex with JPEG

The downloadable pictures of Lena have been compressed and decompressed at the indicated ratios with Chromaplex. By objective and subjective measures of image quality, the pictures have a similar degree of distorion than that obtained with conventional full-color jpeg at the same compression rates, but the processing with Chromaplex is much simpler. All images should be viewed in 24-bit color. (NOTE: For practical requirements of the Web, the demo pictures had to be compressed at the highest quality of conventional jpeg; i.e., about 2:1, and that is on top of the indicated compression ratios).
