7.2.1.5 Viewing the Results.

Follow the steps below to view the task results:

  1. Select the desired edgel-based change task whose results are of interest. Do this by selecting the appropriate item from the Task section of the Quick Look Profile Menu. The item is darkened when selection is successful.
  2. View the results of task execution by clicking on the Examine Results button at the bottom of the Quick Look Profile Menu. This action displays a results window described below.

The result of running the edgel-based change detection algorithm is summarized in the results window. An example of Edgel-based change detection results is shown in Figure 7.4.

Figure 7.4: Example results window of edgel-based change detection.

The first item, Change Detected? specifies whether change has been detected in the target region. The second item, Task is a textual field that describes the task whose results are being examined. The Results Description field is a textual description of the results. For the edgel-based detection task there are three variants for results: Definite Change, Potential Change, and No Change. Corresponding to each degree of change is a numeric value normalized between 0.0 and 1.0. The values of 0.75 and greater specify Definite Change. Values from 0.5 below 0.75 specify Potential Change. Values from 0.0 below 0.5 specify No Change. The numeric value gives the user some information as to the strength of the change detected. For the edgel-based change detection, the Results Confidence field is the numeric representation of change described above. The last two fields of the results menu display snippets of the both the target region specified as the Change Image and the reference region specified as the Normal Image.

In general, there is an alternative method of viewing the results of executed tasks. The alternative method is described in the section that describes the Quick Look menu in detail.
