Why do you define a set of standard slots and facets if you don't require servers to support them?

We do not require servers to support standard slots and facets in order to ensure  maximum flexibility. However, if the server has slots or facets which are close enough to standard one, supporting standard slots provides an easy way to interoperate with other systems.
