Yvan G. Leclerc
Yvan G. Leclerc was a Program Manager in the Artificial Intelligence
Center of SRI International, which he joined in 1985. He received his
Bachelors in Electrical Engineering (Honours) in 1977, his Masters of
Engineering in 1980, and his Ph. D. in 1989, all from McGill
University. He worked in various areas of computer vision, computer
graphics, and networking. His final projects included the development
of mesh-based algorithms for recovering shape from multiple images,
the self-consistency methodology, and the radiometry of multiple
images; the design and engineering of a high-speed, network-based
terrain visualization system called TerraVision; a DARPA-sponsored
project on the Digital Earth; a proposal to ICANN for a new top-level
Internet domain called .geo for indexing georefenced data on the
Internet; and GeoVRML. Yvan lost his personal battle with Lymphoma on
October 16, 2002. The inspiration of his work and life live on in the
lives of the people with whom he worked and loved. Contact Ann
