Air Superiority Plan: SIPE-2 Representation
OVERVIEW
This page contains a textual summary of the SIPE representation of
an Air Superiority Plan created within the CPEF system for the Granola
scenario. The overall plan is derived by successively refining
high-level air-objectives down to a task-level consisting of
CAP-related missions and targets. Assumed inputs for the system
include COG and threat analyses.
The plan contains three main phases:
-
Establishment of Defensive Air Superiority
-
Establishment of a Breach through Red IADS
-
Extension of Air Superiority through the breach into Red territory
This documents shows the plan as it develops from Level 1 down to Level
5, along with the final plan at Level 16.
EXPLANATION OF SUMMARIES
In general, each line in a summary corresponds to a single node in a given
level of the plan. For each node, the following information is displayed:
-
TYPE: indicates the category of node. Possible types are
-
SPLIT: designate the beginning of a group of nodes that can proceed
in parallel
-
JOIN: designates the termination of a group of nodes that can proceed
in parallel
-
GOAL: designates an objective that must be refined
-
PROCESS: designates a low-level action in the plan
-
PHANTOM: designates some goal that is already supported by some
other action in the plan
-
LABEL: provides a unique identifier for a node (which can be used
to index into the graphical representation of the plan) Examples of labels
are C2273 and P1672. Nodes whose labels begin with C correspond to `control
nodes'; those with P correspond to process, phantom, or goal nodes.
-
CONTENT: the actions/conditions associated with that node (NOTE:
control nodes such as SPLIT and JOIN have no displayed content)
This representation of plans does not include explicit assignment of temporal
constraints on actions. In general, the ordering of node descriptions within
a summary reflects precedence relationships amongst nodes. To demaracate
a set of nodes that operate in parallel, a line of the form
is used. For example
GOAL: P308 (PROTECT-THREATENED-PLACE SANFILIPE AIR-THREAT VAN-NUYS
D+0 DAYTIME MED)
GOAL: P309 (PROTECT-THREATENED-PLACE SANFILIPE STRIKE-THREAT VAN-NUYS
D+0 DAYTIME LOW)
indicates a pair of goals that have no ordering constraints between them.
