Telnet
By Pauline M. Berry
Telnet is a protocol allowing Internet users to log in to remote hosts from his
local host. Once connected the user can work just as if he were logged in
directly to the remote host. His local host simply acts as a relay to send the
user's key strokes to the remote host. Telnet is a powerful resource sharing
tool. To run a Telnet session the user must have a username and password for
the remote host:
- Log in to the local host
- Invoke the Telnet program: %telnet "remote-host"
- Once connected login an give the password
- When finished logout from remote host
