Angler is a tool that supports several different knowledge tasks to assist in the expansion of a groups thinking. Those tasks include brainstorming, clustering, and ranking. The power of Angler comes from combining those tasks into a process flow, where the outputs of one or more tasks become the inputs of one or more other tasks. Thus, Angler is capable of supporting complex knowledge-based practices (e.g., scenario-based planning). Angler helps a group through the process of forming consensus, while preserving and quantifying differing ways of thinking. Angler provides a Web-based collaborative environment that allows users, distributed both spatially and temporally, to assemble in teams and work together on common tasks, coordinated by a facilitator.
