   Abstract

This 600 year old Medieval manuscript has remained a mystery. It has gone undeciphered for nearly a century: the Voynich Manuscript is inscribed in an unknown writing system and in a language that no one, to date, has been able to identify. For nearly two years, a small Bay Area team -- Tim King PhD, Alessandra Andrisani, Bryce Beasley, and Julian Condo -- has been secretly translating this text. This presentation will be the public unveiling of their work. In this presentation, they will reveal the history of this enigmatic writing system, the language of the Voynich Manuscript, the location where it was authored, and the remarkable and wonderful content of this ancient book. This presentation will be the end of the mystery, and the beginning of a new chapter in the history of this manuscript.

   Bio for Tim King

Principal Investigator Tim King PhD is an archaeologist, linguist, and epigrapher. In 2000, Dr. King and archaeologist Sergio Gómez-Chávez deciphered the writing system of ancient Teotihuacán, in Central Mexico, and produced the first evidence of the language spoken by these historic people. Dr. King is currently teaching at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, California, where he instructs courses in Archaeology, Linguistics, Cultural Anthropology, and Ancient Mesoamerican Archaeology. Dr. King has also been a Principal Investigator of an excavation of an Ice Age Mammoth found in Castroville, California in 2011, and was one of the first Western scientists to examine the most intact frozen Woolly Mammoth ever found, in northeastern Siberia in 2013, with National Geographic.
