We will discuss the reasons for developing the SOA reference model, its overall shape and some of the benefits that are already becoming apparent with having a well known reference model for Service Oriented Architecture.
There are lessons in the process for developing ontologies which I will try to highlight.

Frank McCabe is a former Research Fellow at Fujitsu Labs of America. He has worked in standardizing the Web Service Architecture at W3C, the SOA reference model at OASIS and many others. He is currently working on Business Process Management in the OMG, Rules Interchange Format in the W3C and a Reference Architecture that follows on from the Reference Model. He attained his PhD at Imperial College, London; the topic being the relationship between Logic programming and Object Oriented Programming.
