@UNPUBLISHED{AICPub1089:1969, AUTHOR={Rosen, C. A}, TITLE={Research on Intelligent Automata (August 1969 to August 1970)}, MONTH={January}, YEAR={1969}, KEYWORDS={Nilsson Archive; SHAKEY}, ABSTRACT={At the completion of our present project in August 1969, we will have assembled a complex automaton system composed of some hardware and a large amount of programs integrated together to control a simple vehicle in a realistic environment. The construction of the initial system and our experiments with it provide us with an excellent base from which we can make further progress in automata research. The goal of this research is to learn about processes controlling a vehicle that can .interact with its environment to perform useful tasks. The results of previous research are well documented in a series of reports and papers and this outline will describe the essential features of our proposed program for next year. For purposes of discussion, the proposed work can be divided into four major parts. Three of these are: (1) problem-solving, (2) representation or modeling, and (3) sensory perception. The fourth is the integration of results in these three areas into one complete automaton system. }, NOTE={Preproposal Jan 3, 1969. See proposal ESU 69-68 and project 8259} }
