Abstract

This paper describes in detail the design and implementation of the disc software system for the Artificial Intelligence Group’s SDS 940 time-sharing system at Stanford Research Institute. The purpose of this project was to change the version of the SDS 940 time-sharing system being used from one which kept permanent user files on magnetic tape, to one which kept user files on disc.
