   Abstract

This presents several results relevant to the design of computer languages and compilers. The first chapter derives a class of solutions to the problem of reducing redundancy in multidimensional data arrays, thus generalizing the concept of syntactic precedence functions. The second chapter presents a description of a new computer language, which has the distinguishing properties of minimality and expandability.
