   Project Description

FREEDIUS is an image understanding system that runs on Solaris, Irix, Linux, and Windows. Based loosely on the 3DIUS/CME system, it contains a C/C++ core of utility libraries for image access, manipulation, and display. The system uses OpenGL for image and object display. A high-level Lisp system provides the glue for a truly flexible and powerful IU prototyping environment. FREEDIUS has two user interface subsystems, one based on Tcl/Tk, and the other based on GTK. The base Lisp/C/C++ system runs on Allegro or CMU common lisps. The C/C++ libraries can be linked directly for use in pure C/C++ applications. Like 3DIUS, FREEDIUS is able to represent and manipulate very large image datasets and exotic sensor types.

FREEDIUS is a free Geospatial Image Understanding system. It is a portable, open-source successor to SRI’s 3DIUS system (including CME, Image-Calc, RADIUS Common Development Environment, and other Image Understanding tools).
