Battle Assessment and Data Dissemination (BADD)

SRI International was contracted under the DARPA-funded BADD (Battle Assessment and Data Dissemination) project to provide three-dimensional (3-D) site model data for integration with terrain data from other BADD participants, and to provide our terrain visualization system, TerraVision II, as an alternative visualization technology. SRI's contribution to the program was in the capacity of a technology enhancement for the data aggregation and visualization effort. We can categorize SRI's efforts as follows.

1. Site Modeling: the creation of 3-D building (and other) models for terrain models.

2. GeoVRML development: extensions to VRML97 to support geographic applications.

3. TerraVision II: extensions that we engineered for our terrain visualization system.

4. Data Production: the site and terrain model data that we delivered to other participants.

	GeoVRML GeoVRML is an extension to the Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML97) to support geographic applications.
	Radius Common Development Environment A rapid prototyping system for 3-D image understanding algorithms.
	TerraVision TerraVision is a distributed, interactive terrain visualization system developed by SRI International. It allows users to navigate, in real time, through a 3-D graphical representation of a real landscape created from elevation data and aerial images of that landscape. All data can be distributed over the Web and support is provided for overlaying GeoVRML 3D models.
