Current Projects

FAUST (Flexible Acquisition and Understanding System for Text) The goal of the Machine Reading Program (MRP) is to create an automated reading system that makes the knowledge in NL texts accessible to any of an open-ended range of formal reasoning systems. FAUST will implement innovative solutions to the key challenges that arise in building this bridge from knowledge encoded in natural language to knowledge for use by computational reasoning systems.

Past Projects

	Aquaint: From Question-Answering to Information Seeking Dialogs From question-answering to information-seeking dialogs.
	A System for Representing Textbook Knowledge The goal of the project is to demonstrate the current state-of-the-art in knowledge representation by attempting to answer the questions in an advance placement test in chemistry.
	CAST Speech-to-Speech Translation A limited domain, bidirectional, speech to speech translation project for handheld devices. The current languages are English and Pashto.
	FASTUS A system for extracting information from free text.
