Girish Acharya

Biography and Interests

Girish Acharya is currently an Engineering Director in SRI’s Artificial Intelligence center. He is currently responsible for integration of CALO/PAL, an ambitious effort to create a next generation of personal cognitive assistant that learns and self-improves in the wild bringing together effort by 22 leading research institutions, universities and commercial companies.

Prior to SRI, Mr. Acharya was a senior consultant at H.P. where he helped to design and implement HP content management bridge between hundreds of authoring and publishing communities.

As Director of Engineering at Verticalnet, Mr. Acharya brought together a large team for building supply chain applications.

Mr. Acharya has master’s degree in engineering from IIT, Kanpur, India, University of Toronto and a master’s degree in business administration from the Haas School of Business.

Past Projects

	Cognitive Assistant that Learns and Organizes As part of DARPA’s Personalized Assistant that Learns (PAL) program, SRI and team members are working on developing a next-generation "Cognitive Agent that Learns and Organizes" (CALO).
	TransPAL: Transitioning PAL Technologies The TransPAL project is transitioning a number of technologies developed on the DARPA PAL program for use by various members of the Armed Services.

Software

	CALO Express CALO Express is an effort to progressively productize functionality from the CALO System, integrating CALO functionality into your existing Microsoft Windows environment.
