• Multimedia/Multimodal Interfaces
  • Open Agent Architecture (OAA) : a general purpose architecture for constructing multi-agent systems.

  • Synergistic Multimodal Interfaces : research involving the construction of multimodal interfaces that combine handwritten, verbal and gestural input to produce queries for distributed knowledge and data sources.

  • Agent Development Tools (ADT) : tools to aid the developer in: creating an agent from an existing database or application; adding natural language to the agent; and monitoring, debugging and profiling the agents at runtime.

  • FASTUS : a system for automatically extracting information from texts.

• Spoken Language Systems
  • Improved Spoken-Language Understanding : a project to combine speech recognition and natural-language understanding in spoken-language interfaces.
