Position measurement uncertainties in the real world can be on the order of a meter.
Why do we need to compute coordinate positions any more accurately than that?
Errors in the real world are mostly relative errors, while in the virtual world they are absolute errors.
Any small error that multiplies numbers like the average Earth radius can result in unacceptable results.
