GeoVRML 2.0 Recommended Practice |
![]() |
Many people have contributed to the development of GeoVRML. The original discussions and developments were conducted largely on the mailing list of the GeoVRML working group. The members of that group have contributed greatly to the development of GeoVRML and to its subsequent formulation in this document. In particular, we would like to take the opportunity to thank the following people for their particular contributions to the GeoVRML recommended practice document and the open source sample implementation.
Farid Mamaghani of the SEDRIS project for providing access to the source code for their conversion API.
Dan Toms of SRI International for porting part of this library to Java: the GeoTransform package.
Henk Kramer of Wageningen University for testing the GeoVRML nodes under the Cosmo Player and Cortona VRML browsers.
Volker Coors of Fraunhofer IGD for testing the GeoVRML nodes under the Java3D and CASUS Presenter VRML browsers.
Heiko Grussbach of Centre Recherche Henri Tudor for producing an optimized version of the GeoElevationGrid node.
John Brecht of SRI International for proposing and implementing the GeoTouchSensor node.
Yvan Leclerc, Aaron Heller, and Nat Bletter of SRI International, and Kiril Vidimce of Mississippi State University for contributing time, information, and coding skills to evolve the GeoVRML work into a tangible entity.
Don Brutzman of the Naval Postgraduate Schools for constructive feedback on the early content and structure of this document.
The GeoVRML work performed at SRI International was partially funded under internal research and development funds in addition to funding under the following DARPA programs: MAGIC II, subcontract 12165SRI of contract F19628-95-C-0215; Battle Assessment and Data Dissemination, contract MDA972-97C-0037, and Creating and Visualizing the Digital Earth, contract MDA972-99-C-0011.
