The Proposed .geo
Top-Level Domain Name

.geo is a proposed new top-level domain name which has been submitted to ICANN by SRI International - .geo provides an open and scalable infrastructure to index, discover, and serve any information on the web based upon the latitude-longitude location of the data being referred to. According to the initial ICANN review, the ".geo proposal will help to humanize the web".

SRI submitted a reconsideration request to ICANN on its decision to not select the .geo TLD. Read SRI's Reconsideration Request. This request was rejected by ICANN on March 16, 2001.
