Installation

You have successfully installed CALO Express!

Now that you have installed CALO Express, please review the default search setup.

Steps

1.
Install CALO Express

Review CALO Express Settings



To change the folders scanned by CALO Express, click the on the CALO deskbar and click the "CALO Settings" option on the menu that appears. For additional instructions on this topic, see the Search Preferences section.  

3.
Initial scan

On installation, CALO Express immediately starts scanning files on all your connected drives and in the default Outlook folders for your default email inbox, calendar, and contacts tp ready them for searching.

For many people, a smaller scanned area, makes search results easier to scan. Depending on where you keep the bulk of your data, you may want to change the scanned area to simply your desktop and my documents.

You will need to add any shared drives you want to search.


Scanning of your computer takes hours to a day or longer. CALO searches are available during this time, but the search results are incomplete until the initial scan is finished.


Recommended Setup for Windows File Explorer

To take full advantage of all of CALO Express's functionalities, we recommend the following setup for Windows Explorer:

1. Status Bar turned on

In Windows Explorer, under View, "Status Bar" should be checked.  This will allow you to see summaries of documents and emails in the status bar.

2. Use Windows classic folders is not set

In Windows Explorer, under Tools, choose "Folder Options". Under Tasks, make sure that "Show common tasks in folders" is selected, and not "Use Windows classic folders". This will allow you to access CALO acitons in the left side panel. These actions are also available in the right-click window for CALO search results.
